On International Women's Day, my fabulous & hilarious boyfriend brought me coffee in bed ( #keeper ), then handed me a loonie. "Happy International Women's day babe", he said. "I'm gonna need 23 cents back."
It's a Canadian dollar coin with a loon on it. The two dollar coin is called a twoonie. I think everyone then realized there could never be a throonie or a fouroonie.
Thank you for this….I have tremendous anxiety, have lost sleep and probably huge chunks of my health over being a boss again (someday). The double standard IS outrageous but what’s even more sad, even horrific is how gleeful other women are over another woman’s demise….her mistakes, her humiliation, her attempts at recovery…the facts/details of said failure/fall OR what she’s built/accomplished (against all odds, whatever!) never seem to matter…just the public mess that is whipped up around her….my God, WHERE is the popcorn??? Also, Monica Lewinsky is a goddess and a visionary…extracting so much wisdom from her own path and sharing that brilliantly/with so much soul so the world can get better/be better. THAT is being a fucking Boss.
Internalized misogyny is so real. It is learned an early age. We need to encourage our fellow ladies to fly close to the sun and assure them we will, if needed, be there will a bucket of water and a cold glass of Prosecco (or beverage of choice) so they can get up again and GO. It is the only way this will work. This idea of "you've got once chance ladies" needs to end.
Someone told me recently: “The barn has burned. Now I can see the sky.” Maybe that’s it…and having buckets and Prosecco stocked and ready in case we need it….in case SHE needs it. Thank you, Allana👑.
